In reviewing other students' blogs, I found that everything learned things from this class they never would have known otherwise. Like how to find new things on powerpoint and excel. These skills will help all of us in the future, whether everyone is an education major or not, because technology is a big part of economic survival now. Everyone seems to want to expand their knowledge as well, which is good for the economy as well as the future of the education system.

I have no other skill I would like to learn because I have already named everything. Something that would be cool is how to connect a computer to a television, but that isn't something I would expect to learn in this class so I will just have to research it myself.

I have already discussed how I can achieve my technology goals and how my strive for such achievement will impact my career, so I don't know what to write for this paragraph. So, in my loss for words on the paragraph topic, I would just like to say that this class was very informational and I learned everything I could have hoped to and more from it. The assignments were fun and educational, a technique I hope to implement into my classroom one day.

A web-based tool that I would use during teaching is www.easybib.com. This website is GREAT for making a bibliography. As an English teacher, I would recommend this site to all my students when writing pages. Gone are the days of having to know how every source used for a paper should be properly documented, now we have a handy website to do it for us. Some may say that it is better to memorize how everything should be written and classified, but nowadays there are a lot more sources and you would need a reference on how to do it anyway. Why not have a site that could do it for you?

Easybib is great because I want my students to spend their time focusing on their paper and research, not on how to organize their bibliography. The site also puts them into alphabetical order, and it will even print it out for you in standard Word format and everything. It really is a great resource that I still use today for my papers.

A technology skill that I would most like to learn how to add video to a slideshow. I know how to put the animation on the slides, but now how to put separate videos. I know that this would definitely be a great way to spice up a presentation if something visually explanatory could be added.

I can achieve future educational technology goals by always learning new technology when it comes out and figuring out ways to implement them into the classroom. By staying ahead of the technology curve, I can bring new and exciting things to the classroom that most teachers won't be able to. I can also work to implement them in my school or even district to make technology an integral part of the classroom and learning so that kids will enjoy coming to school.

In Chapter 8, some security issues are discussed, such as viruses, unauthorized access and use, and information theft. Viruses can affect every aspect of a computer, from the hard drive, to the internet's functioning capabilities, to even how some applications work. Some things that have been implemented to prevent viruses are programs that scan regularly for them and then eliminate the threat before it becomes too great. Hackers are an example of unauthorized access, and they can break into your computer from another location and get to everything one it. Information theft is the biggest security risk because assumed identity happens, and people can get credit card and other important information to use against you. There have been many things implemented to prevent security risks, such as e-mail spam blocker, virus protection software, encoded password access, and unauthorized accessing shutdown to prevent any information from leaking out.

A new skill I have acquired in this class has been the custom animation technique on power point. I never knew you could draw your own animation path for an object in a presentation, as well as insert a custom sound to the animation. It was really helpful to acquire this skill, because it will make my presentations in the classroom more entertaining and pleasing to the senses.

Something I could share with the class is that Strozier is now 24/5. Not just for exams, but for the rest of the year! Sundays-Thursdays are 24 hours. The librarians are also available 24 hours as well! It is really great to have a place to study for those certain all nighters that sitting in your room or dorm cannot accomplish. I am really glad that the university did this.

In Chapter 6, the idea of a curriculum, or the knowledge, skills, and performance standards students are expected to acquire in particular grade levels through teacher instruction, was discussed. Another topic that was introduced, was how to frame and guide such a curriculum so there are set expectations throughout the education system so no one in any place is ahead of someone else, a level playing field is established. The chapter talks about how to integrate technology into planning a curriculum and into the classroom with web pages, software, and integrating classrooms with computers rather than just having computer labs so that presentations can be possible on learning material. The ASSURE model was talked about as well, in the sense of using it as a guideline for technology in learning.

Since my last post, I have learned a lot. One thing is that I now know how to make and execute changes in an excel chart. I only knew how to make one based on the information highlighted, now I know how to transform different aspects. I also know how to change the look and aesthetics of the chart as well.

Something interesting I would like to share with the class is that Aladdin's Hookah bar is having specials on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. It is a really cool place that stays open until 2am and has wireless internet and is great for studying. I don't know the specifics on the deals except that Wednesday is ladies' night and ladies get a free cup of prince or princess tea. It is a great environment for hanging out and relaxing on the comfy chairs and if you don't like to smoke shisha, they have food and great and exotic teas that make the trip worth it. Check it out!
